Spring is upon us! It is a welcome reprieve from the cold, dry weather of winter that can wreak havoc on our skin. To make the transition from sweaters and long sleeves to short sleeves and sandals, I have some tips for you and your skin that will make you look healthy, vibrant, and beautiful in the lead up to summer.
Winter air can leave our skin dry, flaky and irritated. Spring is the perfect time to do some serious exfoliating treatments. Exfoliation gets rid of the dead skin cells that give your complexion a dull look and leaves your skin radiant and glowing. Exfoliation isn’t just for your face either. Make sure to get your arms, legs and feet, too! We can’t have dry, cracked heels in our strappy sandals.
What to do:
Body: You can make your own scrub. Use it every few days to get your skin primed and ready to show off! Mix equal parts coconut oil and brown sugar, add a few drops of lemongrass essential oil, and you’ve got a homemade scrub to use in the shower that will leave your skin soft, smooth and smelling amazing.
Face: The skin on your face is much more sensitive than the rest of your body, so it may be best to leave it to the professionals. Book an appointment with your aesthetician for microdermabrasion, a peel, or try one of these homemade masks if you are a DIY girl.
Feet: Petroleum jelly is a lifesaver for dry feet. Slather some onto the driest parts of your feet and put on socks. It may not be the most comfortable feeling, but if you do it at night before bed, you’ll wake up with super soft feet without exerting much effort.
Protect your face! Get into the habit of using a broad spectrum sunscreen with at least SPF 30 on your face before you put on your makeup. Most of what we call aging is actually years of sun damage that we can prevent. Don’t forget to apply sunscreen to the rest of your body too. More people die from skin cancer that from any other cancer.
Bright Lips & Cheeks
Warmer weather is the perfect time to have a little more fun with your color choices. Lighter shades of blush brighten and illuminate your face and making you look summer fresh. Add a pop of coral or pink to your lips and take your look to the next sun-kissed level.
Water is probably the most important thing we put into our bodies. It has endless benefits, and one of those is hydrating your skin, making it look even, smooth, and healthier overall.
